National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba called in Mexico

Mexico City, April 19 – The Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba has called for the XXIX National Meeting of Solidarity with the island, to be held on May 3 and 4 at the Futurama Cultural Center in this capital.

The organizations and citizens who defend Cuba and its Revolution in its legitimate and inalienable right to free self-determination, call to endorse the defense of the sovereignty of that country, says a document from the organization.

It also adds, "to join efforts in all our trenches with the demand for the end of the blockade and economic harassment of Cuba; therefore, the XXIX National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba will be held on May 3 and 4, 2025."

In the call issued, the Movement points out that “the escalation of imperialist aggression” against the Antillean nation “begins a new chapter with the change of administration in the United States government.”

“It is once again evident that, without partisan distinctions, the objective they pursue remains the same: annihilate the social project emanating from the Cuban Revolution,” it denounces.

He recalls that “just a few hours before the end of his administration, and hypocritically,” then-US President Joe Biden “had suspended Cuba's inclusion on the spurious and ignominious list” of states supposedly sponsoring terrorism.

“And cynicism was the hallmark of this action, since it was done at a time when it would not bring any palliative to the economic asphyxiation that Cuba faces, since immediately upon the return of Donald Trump, the measure was reversed with a stroke of a pen despite the repudiation of international opinion,” it adds.

Similarly, it emphasizes, “new measures have been implemented, such as the suspension of visas for foreign government officials who hire Cuban doctors.”

In the opinion of the organization, it will not be an easy path that the Caribbean nation will have to face with the return of the republican administration, and the severe shortcomings of more than 60 years of economic, commercial and financial siege will continue to hinder the well-being of that people.

Furthermore, "the world must now confront the unstoppable and shameless expansionist desire of the United States with its threats of military and economic interventions against those who dare to contradict its imperial designs."

Therefore, it emphasized, today more than ever Cuba represents the beacon of hope for humanity.
