Camagüey, Apr 23rd. - A strict follow-up receives the 37 pregnant women of the municipality of Jimaguayú, in the province of Camagüey, as part of the Maternal and Child Care Program, said Dr. Carlos Fernández Cruz, Director General of Health in that locality.
In order to ensure better care for them, he said, the maternal home operates, inaugurated in 2024, which has six capacities, mainly for those with high risk or reside in remote areas of the municipal capital.
In this institution, he pointed out, they are permanently supervised by specialists in Obstetrics and Integral General Medicine, in addition to the care they receive from the nurse and the staff responsible for guaranteeing them the right food.
With satisfaction, the pregnant Keren Oduardo Palomino says that in that home she has been able to perform the necessary rest to bring her pregnancy to a happy term.
She considers that she feels well cared for there, because she is checked daily for her state of health and if it is necessary to carry out any additional tests, or any other examination, she has a means of transport for her transfer.
As part of the health system of that municipality, Fernández Cruz also mentioned the grandparents' house, a space that houses 30 older adults, including Argentina Álvarez Miranda, 83 years of age.
For five years, he said, he has been attending every day to that institution where everyone is supported as a family, and where, he says, each grandfather treasures a beautiful story.
His story however, is linked to the magisterium, because one of the greatest successes of his life was to be literate and teacher in the mountains of eastern Cuba.
In addition to the maternal home and grandparents' house, Jimaguayú has 21 clinics, three of them in hard-to-reach areas as far as the community projection with different specialists arrives, and in the same way, the services offered by the rehabilitation room, the genetic clinic and the stomatology clinic stand out.
