Ramallah, April 25 – Nearly 500,000 Palestinians have been displaced in the Gaza Strip since the resumption of Israeli attacks on March 18, a UN agency denounced today.
The repeated displacement orders have left the territory's inhabitants with less than a third of Gaza's living space, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported on its X account.
“This remaining space is fragmented, unsafe, and barely habitable,” the institution noted.
UNRWA warned that overcrowded shelters are suffering from terrible living conditions, while service providers are struggling to operate and resources are running out.
On the same social media platform, the agency warned that the humanitarian crisis in the coastal enclave “is at its worst since October 2023,” when the current cycle of violence began.
The situation there is catastrophic, it emphasized, amid reports of severe shortages of food, medicine, fuel, and other vital resources due to the total blockade imposed by Israel since March 2.
Specifically, in its latest update on Gaza, UNRWA announced yesterday on its website that its flour supplies in Gaza have run out.
It indicated that the blockade imposed is causing a rapid depletion of essential humanitarian supplies.
It denounced that since the end of the ceasefire ended, the Israeli Army intensified air, land and maritime bombardments over the territory, where more than 51 thousand deaths have been reported. (Text and photo: PL)
