Havana, April 25. - The Cuban embassy participated in the Latin Day of the Azerbaijan Networking Business Forum, the head of the diplomatic mission of the Caribbean country in Baku, Carlos Valdés, informed Prensa Latina today.
According to Valdés, the important business event in Baku was developed with the participation of the Latin American embassies accredited in the Caucasian nation of this country, and Azerbaijani businessmen from different sectors of industry and commerce.
The Latin American diplomatic missions presented the country's potential in terms of investment and international trade.
In his speech, the Cuban ambassador emphasized the importance of foreign investment in his country's economic and social development plan until 2030.
Valdés recalled that under current conditions, priority is given to projects aimed at the production of food and energy from renewable sources and the renewal of the national industry, as well as local development projects in general, health and biotechnology, among others.
He also highlighted that in the portfolio of business opportunities in Cuba, 607 investment projects are conceived distributed in all the provinces of the country.
They are present in sectors such as food production, energy, tourism, sugar agroindustry and its derivatives, transportation and logistics, efficient trade, construction, culture, telecommunications and information technology, pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology.
He also expressed interest in working together to increase the presence of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs in priority projects, in sectors such as renewable energy, food and tourism.
The diplomat also highlighted the role that the Chambers of Commerce must play based on the already existing legal basis and the interest in fostering business ties with Azerbaijani entrepreneurs.
Finally, Valdés invited those present to participate in the Havana International Fair (FIHAV, for its acronym in Spanish), which will take place from November 24 to 29 of this year.
The Cuban ambassador also denounced the harmful effects of the U.S. blockade and Cuba's re-inclusion on the spurious list of supposed state sponsors of terrorism on the Cuban economy, and the determination to move forward and succeed with the support of Cuba's friendly countries.
