Camagüey, Apr 26th. - Eleven Camagüey students joined the teams to compete in international events, after completing the first phase of national pre-school in pre-university teaching, representing the subjects of Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Physics and Biology.
It is remarkable that four of them have already competed in other events of this nature reaching medals: Liss Marian Estevez Suárez and Heidy de la Caridad Rodríguez Fuentes, in Mathematics; and Roy Roger González Faxas and Marco Antonio Asín López, in Chemistry, subjects that live their golden stage in the province.
Likewise Javier Ernesto Galindo Naples deserved a position in the national team, when he is still in ninth grade, due to his good preparation that is strengthened by the inclusion of these classrooms with young talents in the Institute of Exact Sciences Máximo Gómez Baéz.
Being from ninth here has aroused my interest in the subject because it allows me to devote much more time to it. "Now I feel fulfilled because it is difficult to compete with students of higher grades who have a better preparation so it is a pride to represent my country," Galindo Naples commented.
Cuba's participation in these events is affected by the lack of budget to pay for trips in subjects such as Geography or Physics, the latter where only two students of the four that make up the team must compete, a decision that leads to the demotivation and disappointment of those who have been preparing for several years for these contests.
The first competition of this cycle will be the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad (IMChO) from 5 to 13 May next in Brazil, while the other students will begin the second stage of the national preselection on April 28. (Elia Rosa Yera Zayas Bazán/Adelante Digital) (Photo: Adelante Digital)
