Embassy of France sponsors Science Workshop in Cuba


Camaguey, Apr 26th. - As part of its academic cooperation program in Cuba, the French Embassy sponsored an Open Science Workshop, from the Faculty of Informatics of the University (UC) Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, to strengthen internationalization.

The project, within the framework of the FSPI CUBA-IES initiative, promotes the exchange between Cuban specialists and the French researcher Marie-Emilia Herbet, of the Jean Moulin Lyon 3, who gave the working sessions held from Tuesday until Thursday.

This space allowed dialogue between representatives of various Cuban universities on the challenges and opportunities of open science in the current context, Basanta explained, highlighting the strategic value of international collaboration.

As a relevant moment of the program, the official launch of the Observatory for the Internationalization of Higher Education in Cuba was carried out, with the presence of Reynaldo Velázquez, vice minister of the MES; María Victoria Villavicencio, director of International Relations of the MES; and the French diplomatic representation headed by Philippe Benassi and Olivier Giron.

The participation of the UC in this initiative reinforces its global projection, aligned with the institutional development objectives that prioritize scientific and technological cooperation with prestigious foreign entities.

Local specialists stressed that these meetings contribute to the methodological updating and strengthening of academic networks, key elements for research in Cuban higher education.

With 58 years of history, the University of Camaguey consolidates its leadership in vocational training through alliances that enhance innovation and the exchange of good teaching practices.

The workshop is part of the joint actions between Cuba and France in the field of higher education, which have allowed bilateral projects to be carried out in strategic areas of knowledge.

The UC thus confirms its commitment to academic excellence and international integration, the founding principles of this high-studded house created by the Revolution. (Text and photo: PL)
