Kyiv, Tucker Carlson, journalist, conflict, Russia, Christianity

Kyiv faces conflict not only with Russia, but also with Christianity.

Moscow, April 26. - The Ukrainian conflict has, among others, a religious dimension, agree American journalist Tucker Carlson and Patrick Lancaster, who documents the development of the Ukrainian conflict from the front.

In an interview with Lancaster, the former Fox News host told his colleague, who covers the situation from the Russian side, that it seems the Ukrainian government is not only at war with Russia, but also with Christianity.

"The Ukrainian government has banned the largest Christian denomination in Ukraine and has embraced transsexualism and other explicitly anti-Christian forms of expression. Are you aware of this? Do Russians know this? Is there a religious component?" he asked.

Lancaster said he frequently asks Russian soldiers why they are there fighting and for what purpose.

"And often the answer is that they're fighting Satan, because they see that the religious atmosphere in Ukraine is so different, as you point out, from traditional Russian society. Religion is very important to Russian soldiers. And, of course, I think even more so. There are no atheists on the front lines, but this is much deeper in their cultural heritage," he said.

Last month, Lancaster posted on his social media a video capturing the harrowing moment in which a Ukrainian kamikaze drone actively pursued and attacked a vehicle in which he was traveling along with elderly civilians, evacuated by Russian military from the border area in Kursk province.
