Cuban vice president praises scientific collaboration with Vietnam


Hanoi, April 28th. – The Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, said today that it was encouraging to see the willingness to collaborate between Vietnamese scientists and his country.

This was stated on his account on the social network X by Valdés Mesa, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party (PCC), at the end of his visit to the High-Tech Agricultural Park in the Cu Chi district, in Ho Chi Minh City.

The tour of the facility was the first activity in Valdés Mesa's official program in the southern metropolis, where he arrived the day before to attend the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification Day.

Upon his arrival in Ho Chi Minh City, the Cuban vice president expressed great pride in being back in this heroic land and sharing the joy and happiness of this celebration with the Vietnamese people and authorities.

Cuba, he said, "holds its relations with the Vietnamese people in the highest regard, with historic ties of brotherhood between the two peoples fostered by leaders Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh."

He also highlighted the broad bilateral collaboration that exists in the economic, food production, health, and biotechnology sectors, and thanked Vietnam for its solidarity during the challenging times the country is experiencing.

The Cuban vice president arrived in Ho Chi Minh City this Sunday from Rome, where he led the island's delegation that participated in the funeral service for the recent death of Pope Francis.

According to the preliminary program for his visit to the southern city, Valdés Mesa will participate in a meeting with representatives of Cuban solidarity organizations, honor the memory of independence hero Ho Chi Minh at the monument erected in his memory, and visit sites of historical and cultural interest.

He will also hold official talks with the highest authorities of the Party, State, and Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and will participate next Wednesday in the ceremony and military parade marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and National Reunification.
