Havana, May 6. - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, today denounced the expansion of the operations of the Israeli army against Gaza, in the context of the Zionist aggression that began in October 2023.
On his profile on the social media platform X, the top representative of the diplomacy of this Caribbean nation stated that these actions foresee the “conquest and control of territories and the internal displacement of the majority of the local population.”
The measure, Rodríguez pointed out, violates International Humanitarian Law, will intensify genocide, and hinder access to humanitarian aid.
Today, the president of the Palestinian National Council, Rawhi Fattouh, condemned from Ramallah the new war strategy, recently approved by the Israeli security cabinet, which includes the mobilization of 60,000 reservists and the expulsion of the northern population of the coastal enclave to the south.
He described this operation as ethnic cleansing and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law that worsens the crisis in that region.
The plan, he said, is a serious threat to the Palestinian presence in the Strip and confirms the true intentions of Benjamin Netanyahu's Government regarding its desire to expel the inhabitants of the territory.
In the face of this situation, he urged the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and to take urgent measures to put an end to Israeli crimes.
Operation Gideon's Chariots, announced the day before by Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) spokesperson Effie Defrin, seeks to displace "the majority of the population" from that enclave and will include a broader campaign to occupy various areas of Gaza.
This coastal enclave is on the verge of collapse due to a lack of food, fuel, and medicine due to the total blockade imposed by the IDF since March 2.
More than 52,000 Palestinians have died there since the beginning of the aggression. (Text and photo: PL)
