Israel arrested 770 minors in the West Bank since October 2023

Ramallah, May 12 – Israeli security forces have arrested 770 minors in the West Bank since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, the Commission for Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs denounced today.

The agency highlighted in a statement that the arrests took place under very harsh conditions and often involved physical and psychological abuse.

It warned that these violations constitute a flagrant violation of international laws guaranteeing the protection of children's rights.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) recently warned that minors in Palestine face extremely worrying conditions and live in extreme fear and anxiety due to Israeli attacks.

After visiting the Gaza Strip and the West Bank for four days in March, the regional director of Unicef for North Africa and the Middle East, Edouard Beigbeder, criticized the lack of protection and humanitarian assistance for that population sector.

The situation in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem, is extremely worrying, he stressed.

The official warned that nearly 2.4 million Palestinian children are affected in some way.

“Some live in extreme fear and anxiety, while others face real consequences from the denial of humanitarian assistance and protection, or from displacement, destruction, or even death,” he emphasized. (Text and photo: PL)
