Palestine condemns new Israeli massacres in Gaza

Ramallah, May 14. - The president of the Palestinian National Council, Rawhi Fattouh, today condemned the new massacres committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip, where 60 deaths have been reported in the last hours due to the bombings of the neighboring country.

In a statement, the official denounced the Israeli air strikes against the city and the refugee camp of Jabalia, in the north of the coastal enclave.

He emphasized that the majority of the victims are women and minors, who were crowded in tents for displaced people.

These attacks represent a dangerous escalation in the policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing practiced by Israel against our people, he stated.

Bombing children and women constitutes a war crime, which requires a firm reaction from the international community and the United Nations, he stressed.

Fattouh recalled that the army also bombed the Nasser Medical Complex early yesterday morning and, hours later, the European Hospital, both located in the southern city of Khan Yunis.

The world must stop the brutal attack against a defenseless people and protect them from the genocide and ethnic cleansing carried out by Benjamin Netanyahu's government, he stated.

Some 60 people lost their lives in the bombings against six buildings in the coastal enclave since early Wednesday morning, medical sources told Qatari television station Al Jazeera.

For its part, the official Palestinian news agency reported 51 deaths due to the Israeli raids since the early hours of the morning. (Text and photo: PL)
