Cuba present at the International Travel Fair in Guangzhou, China

Havana, May 16 – The 33rd Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF2025) brings together more than a thousand exhibitors and representatives from 60 countries and regions, including Cuba, in China.

According to diplomatic sources, the largest of the Antilles is participating with a promotional stand at this event, one of the most important of its kind in Asia.

Elizabeth Vela, Tourism Counselor at the Cuban Embassy in China, highlighted the growing interest in the island's participation, which is in line with the Chinese market's greater awareness of tourism in the Caribbean nation.

This growth, she explained, is the result of a more active promotional campaign by Cuba Única, starring Chinese figures and aimed at positioning the image of the Caribbean country as a unique and attractive destination.

In this regard, the official told Prensa Latina that more and more young Chinese people are showing curiosity to learn about the island's culture, history, and heritage.

During the fair, the Cuban delegation met with representatives of Air China, to whom it expressed its willingness to expand cooperation in air connectivity.

It also met with major travel agencies from the southern Asian giant linked to the destination Cuba, including GZL International Travel Service Ltd. and Guangdong China Travel Service Co.Ltd.

As part of the presence at the fair, an exhibition of typical products such as rum, honey, and coffee was organized on the Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com, within the Excelencias Cuba pavilion.

A presentation was also held highlighting the main tourist attractions and current facilities for Chinese citizens wishing to visit the Caribbean country, including the current visa exemption policy.

Vela recalled that at the last edition of the Cuban International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2025), China was the guest of honor, a milestone that strengthened bilateral cooperation in this sector.

She also recalled that this year the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the People's Republic of China is celebrated, an opportune occasion to further strengthen bilateral ties in multiple fields, including tourism. (Text and photo: PL)
