Defend gender equality

Havana, 22 May. - A working group of the Ministry of Higher Education and the United Nations system was held in Havana with the objective of reviewing what has been done and the reservations that still remain regarding gender equality and women’s empowerment in Cuban universities.

Miriam Alpízar, director of the Gender Committee of the Ministry of Higher Education, emphasized that universities play a fundamental role in educating a citizen who defend and respect gender equality.

She stated that our classrooms are filled with future professionals who will hold positions in the public and business sectors, so it is important to promote research, postgraduate studies, and subjects that cover these topics.

Anne Lemaistre, director of the UNESCO Regional Office, recognized Cuba's progress and the body’s interest in supporting this work on the island. (Radio Reloj) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
