UJC leadership in international youth organization


Namibia, May 26th. - The Union of Young Communists (UJC) of Cuba was ratified as secretary general of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (FMJD), transcended the final day of the 21st. General Assembly of the organization, which meets in the Namibian city of Windhoek.

According to the note sent to the ACN drafting, the meeting, which brings together more than 150 participants representing 78 organizations from 57 countries, the structure of the Federation was chosen for the next four years.

It was also announced that the Communist Youth of Portugal (JCP) will hold the presidency of the FMJD.

Both national youth groups stand out for their work in defense of the historical demands of the youth and in the struggle of our peoples, underlines the text of Yuniel Labacena, special envoy of the Cuban press to the meeting.

The Coordinating Bureau, based in Budapest, Hungary, is also made up of the Youth League of the Swapo Party of Namibia; the Union of Socialist Students of Sri Lanka; and the Lebanese Union of Democratic Youth, which hold the vice-presidents of the Africa, Asia and Middle East regions,

respectively.

In the assembly, the commitment to continue working to unite international youth against all forms of imperialist aggression, capitalist exploitation, colonialism and oppression was ratified.

The need to maintain youth prominence in the struggles for peace, democracy and social transformation was also reiterated, in line with the legacy of the founders of the FMJD in 1945.

The Federation has the challenge of organizing the 20th. World Youth and Student Festival, whose host country will be decided in the coming months. (Text and Photo: Cubasí)
