Washington, 3 Jun.- The Trump administration sees today’s recent attack on a pro-Israeli demonstration in Boulder, Colorado, as a reason to strengthen its immigration policy and measures against foreigners residing illegally in the United States.
In his first comments after the incident on Sunday afternoon, President Trump said that the "horrendous attack" in Boulder will not be tolerated by his administration, CNN reported.
“The horrendous attack yesterday (Sunday, June 1) in Boulder, Colorado, will not be tolerated in the United States,” Trump posted on Truth Social the day before.
In addition, he said the incident underscores the need for his administration to intensify anti-immigration measures.
Mohamed Soliman was in the United States illegally, a Homeland Security official said. “He came in through (Joe) Biden's ridiculous Open Borders policy, which has harmed our country so severely. He must leave under Trump's policy. Acts of terrorism will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” he wrote.
This is another example of why we must keep our borders secure and deport illegal and anti-American radicals from our homeland, the president added.
For her part, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also warned that the administration will enforce immigration law more stringently.
“This is absolutely an act of targeted terrorism,” Leavitt said during an interview with Fox News.
"And the president will ensure that this individual (Soliman) is held accountable to the maximum extent of the law, and not just this individual, but any individual, especially illegal criminals, who are involved in acts of terrorism," she stressed.
Leavitt insisted that “it is a privilege, not a right, to enter the United States, and we will not allow people who promote anti-American values ??and especially those who engage in acts of violence to remain in our country. Their visas will be revoked and they will be deported,” she threatened.
Soliman, 45, was charged on Monday with a federal hate crime charge and at least 16 counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Classified by authorities as an act of terrorism, the attack brought the number of burn injuries to 12.
The man, who allegedly disguised himself as a gardener to carry out his attack, reportedly stated that he “wanted to kill all the Zionists and wished they were all dead, and even expressed certainty that he would do it again.”
At least 16 unused Molotov cocktails were within the suspect’s reach when he was arrested, said FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek. Soliman’s next appearance will be on Thursday. (Text and photo: PL)
