Camagüey, visual arts, call, Fidelio Ponce de León Visual Arts Salon

Call for entries for 2025 Fidelio Ponce de León Hall now open

Camagüey, June 4th. - The persistence of an event that has accompanied the evolution of the visual arts in Cuba is reaffirmed in 2025 with the announcement of the XXXIV Fidelio Ponce de León Visual Arts Salon, to be held in Camagüey from September 18 to 21.

Dedicated to the unique Camagüey’s painter Fidelio Ponce, this biennial exhibition pays tribute not only to the artist's aesthetic legacy, but also to his ability to capture, with a modern sensibility, the spiritual essence of his hometown.

Organized by the Provincial Council of Visual Arts of Camagüey (CPAP), the event seeks to highlight and promote the multiple creative areas that coexist in contemporary Cuba through two participation categories: individual works and curatorial projects.

INDIVIDUAL WORKS: DIVERSITY OF FORMATS AND NEW MEDIA

The call is open to all Cuban creators, regardless of their place of residence, and accepts works in all formats, media, and techniques—including digital media and cryptoassets, whether backed or not, such as NFTs—as long as they are unpublished in Camagüey. The presentation will be made digitally, and images must be sent in Full HD format (1920x1080 px). Digital sculptures must be submitted in FBX or STL formats.

The deadline for submissions for individual works is July 31, 2025, and the results will be announced on August 15. Selected pieces must be submitted by August 26 for gallery installation. Proposals should be sent to cmgcpap@pprincipe.cult.cu < cmgcpap@pprincipe.cult.cu > ; / cmgcpap@gmail.com < cmgcpap@gmail.com> ;, or via Telegram (@CPAPcmg).

CURATORIAL PROJECTS: A COMPREHENSIVE LOOK AT CREATION

The curatorial section is open to Cuban curators, whether individual or collective, who may submit a single project. These projects must include a theoretical rationale, exhibition design, artist selection, and be accompanied by the necessary technical information for their execution.

The deadline for submissions in this section is August 15, 2025, and the selected projects will be announced on August 29. Exhibitions must be held between September 5 and 15, in spaces that will be allocated equitably, as there is no "central hall."

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

The exhibition will award three main prizes for individual works, with a First Prize of 30,000 pesos, in addition to mentions and collateral prizes from cultural institutions. Special recognition will also be given to the best work conceived for public spaces.

For curatorial projects, a Single Prize will be awarded, which includes payment of fees and certificates, as well as other incentives managed by the organizing committee.

This exhibition remains a vital space for reflection, experimentation, and visibility of contemporary Cuban art. The 34th edition once again invites us to consider the city and its symbols through current practices, in constant dialogue with the memory of Fidelio Ponce.
