Havana, Jun 6th. - Cuban triathletes Leslie Amat, Alejandro Rodríguez, Jorge Alemañez and Claudia Gurri, together with their coach Diósele Fernández, are in Calima, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.
They will participate in the sprint mode in the Pan American Triathlon Cup, which will take place this weekend.
The event brings together competitors from all over America and is part of the official circuit of the Pan American Triathlon Confederation.
The Cuban team is composed entirely of athletes from the capital, who performed laudably at the Havana 2025 Triathlon, held in February.
Rodriguez achieved fourth place in the men's category, completing the test in 55:35 minutes, while Alemañez ranked seventh, with a time of 57:29 minutes.
In the women's elite category, Amat finished in fifth place with a time of 1:02:07 hours, and Gurri (1:09:47) achieved his qualification for the Pan American GamesJunior of Asunción 2025.
This Friday it will be used for the athletes to become familiar with the circuit, although some, like Rodriguez and Alemañez, already know it, as they competed there during the Pan American Junior Games of 2021.
The program includes the Congress of the Pan American Triathlon Confederation this Friday, which will be attended by the president of the Cuban federation of this sport, Alejandro Puerto, to address issues important for the development of discipline in the region and the holding of the Games of Asunción 2025.
On Saturday, the individual competitions will be held, in which Cubans will seek to improve their brands and reach prominent positions.
