United States, Donald Trump, National Guard to Los Angeles, memorandum, battalion, marines

There are more US troops in Los Angeles than in Iraq and Syria

Moscow, June 11 – US President Donald Trump ordered this Monday the deployment of 2,000 additional National Guard troops to Los Angeles to contain the excesses following immigration raids in the area, where on Sunday the first two thousand that the president had sent after signing a memorandum on Saturday had already begun to arrive.

In addition, the arrival of a battalion of approximately 700 Marines was recently reported.

In this way, it is estimated that the military personnel in Los Angeles amounts to nearly 4,800, a figure that exceeds the number of U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria, where approximately 2,500 and 1,500 soldiers serve, respectively, according to ABC News.

This Tuesday, Trump defended the armed deployment in the Californian city and reiterated that what is happening is a total attack on peace, public order, and national sovereignty.

"If I hadn't sent troops into Los Angeles the last three nights, that once beautiful and great city would be burning to the ground right now," the president wrote on the Truth Social network, where he called California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass "incompetent."
