Images of the relationship between the UN and Cuba to be exhibited in Havana

Havana, June 26 – Images of key moments from the founding of the United Nations and Cuba’s active participation over 80 years make up the exhibition opening today in the capital.

At its headquarters, the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU, for its acronym in Spanish) will open the show “Milestones Along the Way: 80 Years of Cuba and the UN” at 2 p.m., organizers told Prensa Latina.

Attendees will be able to remember or discover important events of the Antillean nation, through the photos that will be on display at the institution until July 26th.

The so-called October Crisis, debates in the Security Council, and several of the votes in the UN General Assembly against the United States' economic blockade of the island are some of the events perpetuated by several photographers.

According to the promotional poster of the exhibition, "the show offers a graphic look at eight decades of shared challenges and achievements."

The purpose of the ACNU is to invite reflection and imagine a future where cooperation, equality among nations, and human dignity are the compass to build a better world. (Text and photo: PL)
