Cuba denounces violation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' YouTube channel


Havana, 7 Jul. - The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex, for its acronym in Spanish) today denounced the recent violation of its official channel on the YouTube platform by malicious actors.

Through a statement published on its website, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that the act constitutes a manifestation of cybercrime and is part of the digital harassment practices that have been repeatedly denounced by our institutions.

The Minrex reiterated its rejection of these illegal practices and its determination to defend the truth and the sovereign voice of Cuba in all digital spaces.

Due to its importance, the Cuban News Agency transmits the entire statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba reports that its official YouTube channel was recently compromised by malicious actors.

This act constitutes a manifestation of cybercrime and is part of the digital harassment practices that have been repeatedly denounced by our institutions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounces this attack and clarifies that the content published during the period in which the account was compromised does not represent in any way the position of the Government of Cuba, nor of this Ministry or of any Cuban institution.

Currently, we are working in coordination with the relevant technical authorities to fully restore control of the channel, strengthen its security, and prevent future actions of this type.

We reiterate our strong rejection of these illegal practices and our determination to defend the truth and sovereign voice of Cuba in all digital spaces.
