Havana, July 7. - During the Third Europe for Cuba Meeting held in Venice, Italy, the commitment to strengthen global solidarity was reaffirmed, with a call to unify actions in defense of that country and its people, according to a statement today.
In the conclusions of the event, which with the theme Against the Media War and against Imperialism was held from 4 to 6 July in that city of the northern region of Veneto, the more than 100 delegates from about 20 nations who participated in a virtual or face-to-face way, reaffirmed their commitment to support the Cuban Revolution.
Among the agreements adopted was confirmed the need to intensify the denunciation of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government on that nation, with actions in all possible forums, both parliamentary and governmental, trade unions and social and human rights organizations.
A call was also made to expand the media campaign, both at the European and global levels, given the importance of highlighting the human impact of these extraterritorial and illegal measures, according to international law, aggravated by Cuba's inclusion on the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.
In this sense, it was decided to establish a Communication Front, to systematically counter the campaign of disinformation and media lies against the revolutionary process in that country, which will have the task of producing and disseminating accurate content on the Cuban reality, their social achievements and resilience.
Among the objectives of this front are to enhance the coordination of the communication strategy, taking advantage of all digital platforms and alternative media, as well as to train activists with the necessary knowledge to effectively carry out this task.
As part of the call to unified action, the need for all solidarity networks and committees in this region to increase political pressure was assessed so that the European Union and its member states reject Cuba's inclusion on the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism and demand an end to the blockade.
A call was made for the organization of massive and creative mobilizations on the occasion of the International Day against the Blockade of Cuba, on October 27, as well as on other significant dates.
In a gesture of profound internationalist solidarity, the meeting decided to create the Cuba for Palestine Commission, which will aim to denounce the Israeli occupation and aggression against the Palestinian people, as well as coordinate joint solidarity actions among European movements supporting both countries.
Attendees at this third edition of the Europe for Cuba Meeting reaffirmed during the same their "conviction that truth and active solidarity are the most powerful weapons to defeat the blockade and support the Cuban people in their sovereign path", says this statement in its final part.
