The art of storytelling vibrates in Cuba

Havana, July 15 – The XV International Meeting Stories for an Ancient City begins today in Havana with the participation of storytellers from Mexico, Guatemala, and Cuba.

The invited Cuban artists come from the provinces of Holguín, Matanzas, Pinar del Río, Camagüey, and Havana.

As every year, within the context of the festival, the International Recognition "The Art of Storytelling" will be presented to outstanding storytellers, who, along with the rest of the participants and the audience, will fill the city parks with color and stories with the magic of their orality.

The Historic Center of Havana will be for six days the chosen stage for this appointment with the art of storytelling, which is sponsored by the Theatre Center of Havana, the National Council of the Performing Arts, the Office of the Historian of the City and the Company Theatre of the Word.

This Tuesday, participants will be welcomed to the event at 5:00 p.m. local time, when the festival will be inaugurated with a cast featuring the Clara Narración Project, Gamaliel Sandoval, A la Cuenta de Tres, and as guest, the storyteller Yordan Morasen.

The iconic Obispo Boulevard, in the historic Plaza de Armas, will host the opening, and starting the evening, a Café de Convivencia will liven up the gathering at the Bertolt Brecht Cultural Center. (Text and photo: PL)
