The book 100 Questions on Art History will be presented

Havana, 18 Jul.- The traditional space Sábado del Libro, convened by the Cuban Book Institute, will present this Saturday, July 19, the title 100 questions about art history, from the art critic Maikel José Rodríguez Calviño, and published by Gente Nueva Publisher.

This volume, edited by Gretel Ávila and designed by Ileana Fernández, offers a historiographical tour of human creations throughout time, from the Upper Paleolithic to the year 2000, where each artist has left his mark and a message through his inventions.

Throughout its pages, the author poses 100 questions and answers to address the question that gives meaning to this book: what is art?

In an exclusive statement to the Cuban News Agency, Rodríguez Calviño explained that this book is not for specialists, but rather for a general audience, especially young people, although that does not mean it lacks depth.

The intention is for readers to gain a general overview of art and its history, and find a space for fun and the acquisition of knowledge, as well as for human, personal, spiritual, and intellectual growth, he stated.

The author, recognized for his work aimed at children and young people in the short story and novel genres, characterized by an entertaining and suggestive narrative discourse, has published various articles, reviews, chronicles, and interviews on visual arts, theater, film, and literature in media such as Noticias de Artecubano, Escambray, the magazines Artecubano and Tablas, as well as La Jiribilla, among others.

He has also served on the juries for the Night Creation Scholarship and the Calendar Award in the children's and young people's category for the 2018 edition.

The presentation of the book 100 Questions on Art History will take place on Calle de Madera, in the Historic Center of Old Havana, at 11:00 a.m. (Source: ACN)
