Santiago de Cuba, July 22. - The province of Santiago de Cuba, recognized for its outstanding results in the emulation, joyfully received the news today of winning the central activities venue for the 65th anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC, for its acronym in Spanish), to be celebrated on August 23.
At the indomitable venue, the members celebrated the decision of the organization's top leadership, an announcement that multiplies the commitment to continue at the forefront economically, politically and socially.
Elena Castillo Rodríguez, the top leader of the FMC in this southeastern province, told the Cuban News Agency that the women of Santiago de Cuba, with firmness, unity, optimism, and confidence in victory, are facing the nation's complex economic situation and contributing to the country's development.
She highlighted among the achievements the completion of management structures at different levels, which strengthened work in the communities, while 54.8 percent (%) of decision-making positions in the province are occupied by women, show of equality and leadership to continue preserving the revolutionary conquests.
She highlighted the work of the 31 children’s homes, as a variant of early childhood educational care, in the institutional modality, where services are provided to children, children of mothers, parents or guardians, in entities that, based on their economic and material conditions, be able to allocate funds for its opening, maintenance and ensure its sustainability.
She expressed her pride in having the Vilma Espín Memorial in the Hero City, a center that honors, studies, and promotes the legacy of the eternal president of the FMC, who serves as a guide for women in Cuba and around the world, and whose dreams and ideals they will continue to defend.
She highlighted the organization's role in promoting energy saving and food sovereignty, a sector that has more than two thousand 700 women landowners who contribute to milk production and the planting of various crops.
The successful operation of the Women and Family Guidance Houses decisively strengthens courses so that everyone can acquire knowledge and train in different trades. This goal is also supported by partnerships with organizations, gender lectures, and institutions such as the University of Oriente.
Castillo Rodríguez stated that the territory has over 36,000 federation members, representing 91.8%, and emphasized that one of the main lines of work remains to continue adding women to the FMC.
She extended her congratulations to the women of Santiago de Cuba and highlighted the organization's outstanding role in the province's nine municipalities.
In this fraternal emulation, special recognition was given to the provinces of Matanzas and Guantánamo, while Artemisa, Ciego de Ávila, and Villa Clara were recognized as outstanding. (Source: ACN)
