Managua, August 4th.- Friends of Cuba in Nicaragua reiterated their solidarity with the island during a fundraising day to acquire and send medicines to the largest of the Antilles, the embassy of the Caribbean nation announced.
According to the Cuban diplomatic headquarters, the activity was carried out by Nicaraguan committees of solidarity with the Caribbean nation as part of the Marathon of Love for Cuba campaign.
It added that the meeting, full of solidarity and culture, brought together members of the community in a festive atmosphere that included performances of traditional dances, recitations of poetry, as well as a sample of Nicaraguan cuisine.
According to the information released, those present reaffirmed their commitment to continue their support for Cuba in the face of the difficulties the island is going through because of the policy of economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.
It added that the celebration not only sought to raise funds, but also served to strengthen the historical bonds of brotherhood between Cuba and Nicaragua.
The Marathon of Love for Cuba is an international solidarity campaign that is celebrated throughout the year 2025, coinciding with the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP, for its acronym in Spanish).
The initiative seeks to strengthen the bonds of friendship and support for the Cuban people, and includes several activities and solidarity actions in several countries, with the aim of raising funds, disseminating information and promoting unity in the fight for just causes. (Text and Photo: PL)
