Cuba recorded an increase in the arrival of Canadian tourists in July

Havana, August 21 - The arrival of Canadian tourists to Cuba in July of this year increased, ending the month with a total of 50,083 visitors, authorities reported this Wednesday.

Lessner Gómez, Cuba’s tourism advisor in this country, specified that the Canadian market saw growth in its tourist arrivals to the island in July 2025 compared to previous years.

The month’s figures showed that 50,083 visitors from Canada crossed the borders of the Caribbean archipelago, which represents a 112.34 percent increase compared to 2024.

This news was highlighted today by the publication from the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) of Cuba, which celebrated the achievement amidst efforts to revive tourism in the Caribbean nation.

However, data from the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) indicates that the overall figure for the first seven months of the year (478,388) still falls short of the 622,204 visitors during the same period last year.

This uptick aligns with the Cuban tourism industry’s efforts to recover its main market.

Gómez noted that this signifies a recovery this summer, thanks to all the efforts being made in Cuba, throughout the destination, and across all hotels.

He mentioned that the quality of tourist facilities has improved, customer satisfaction is very positive, and this fosters a significant recovery of confidence when promoting the destination.

The advisor estimates that a good winter season can be expected, with the Canadian market reflecting the confidence in that tourist destination, which is known for its sun, beaches, culture, and, above all, its people.

The Mintur representative highlighted the interesting comparison with the figures from 2019, which are quite similar.

He also emphasized that there remains a strong interest from repeat customers returning to the Caribbean country.

In recent months, it has been reported on social media and other media outlets about the presence of executives from Cuban and foreign hotel chains like Meliá, Muthus, and Blau in various cities in Canada to showcase updates on their products.

Such presence aims to inform tour operators, travel agents, and airlines that market the attractions of the Caribbean island, concluded the official. (Text and photo: Cubadebate)
