Havana, August 25 - Cuban athlete Yarisleidis Cirilo Duboys secured the silver medal in the A final of the C1-200 meters, with a time of 46.27 seconds, during the closing events of the Canoe Sprint World Championships held in Milan, Italy.

The bronze medal went to neutral athlete Ekaterina Shliapnikova, who finished with a time of 46.59 seconds; she had previously placed third at the U23 World Championships held in Portugal.

On July 27, Cirilo was crowned U23 World Champion in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, with a time of 47.25 seconds, surpassing Spain’s Viktoriia Yarchevska (48.08 seconds) and once again outpacing Shliapnikova (48.47 seconds). In the semifinals, the Cuban had clocked an impressive time of 45.88 seconds, the best of the tournament.

With these results, she reaffirms her position as one of the leading figures in global canoeing. (Text and photo: JIT)
