Ramallah, September 8. - Surviving in the Gaza Strip is a daily struggle as a result of the attacks and blockade imposed by Israel, a UN agency denounced today.
“No place is safe, no one is safe. The human cost of this violence and incessant displacement is immense,” the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) stated on its X account.
The agency criticized Israel for the forcible displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians living in that coastal enclave.
They are uprooted from their homes by constant attacks and confined to small, unsafe areas, it emphasized.
UNRWA warned about the systematic destruction of buildings, schools, shelters, and hospitals and expressed concern about access to food, clean water, and other essential supplies.
Speaking to Al Jazeera television, the agency's spokesperson, Tamara Alrifai, also condemned the forced displacement orders issued by the Israeli army in the Strip.
For the more than two million residents of Gaza, life has been confined to just trying to stay alive, she said.
In recent weeks, the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) began a massive ground offensive against the northern Gaza City, home to nearly one million people.
Despite global rejection, in early August, the Israeli security cabinet approved a plan presented by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reoccupy the coastal enclave in several phases, the first of which will begin with the city and surrounding areas.
To this end, the IDF has called up some 60,000 reservists to participate in the operation, which will include up to five divisions.
A few days ago, the military began demolishing the city's residential towers to force its residents to flee south. (Text and photo: PL)
