Havana, September 15. - Tour operators and travel agents announced today that their expectations are growing for the upcoming X Ibero-American Rural Tourism and Agrotourism Event in western Cuba.
In particular, companies of this type from Latin America are attracted by the natural benefits of this archipelago and the experience as organizers of meetings of this kind.
The event, scheduled for September 29 to October 5, will cover the western region of the country, including the provinces of Havana, Mayabeque, Artemisa, and Pinar del Río, and will showcase a current panorama that includes private farms that are dedicated to nature tourism while also producing.
Appropriately, the head of the Group of Events of the Travel Agency Ecotur, Francisco Longino, explained that it is an important call for a recreational modality on the rise in the world.
For the occasion, experts from Spain, Portugal, Panama, Brazil, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paraguay, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, and Argentina will attend, where they will fraternize with their Cuban counterparts.
Additionally, experts from France, Italy, Australia, China, Germany, and Saint Vincent are invited.
Organized by the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with Ecotur, this meeting is attracting many attention, due to a tradition expressed in gatherings called the International Nature Tourism Event (Turnat, for its acronym in Spanish), which takes place every two years in a different Cuban province.
The event's motto is "For sustainable community development, taking into account the benefits that this type of tourism brings to rural communities."
The choice of Cuba as the host country was precisely due to efforts in this regard and to notable events such as the aforementioned Turnat.
The president of Iberoatur, the Panamanian Humberto López-Tirone, praised the conditions in Cuba to host this specialized meeting and set guidelines for the immediate future.
The event is organized through an academic part, with meetings and expert talks, and a visit to places of interest in that region.
Therefore, professors from both Cuban and foreign universities participate, including those from Colombia, Spain, Argentina, and Costa Rica.
Previous versions of this event took place in Spain (2016), Guatemala (2017), Portugal (2018), Costa Rica (2019), Virtual-Covid-19 (2020), Panama (2021), Spain-Portugal (2022), El Salvador (2023), and Colombia-Huilla (2024).
