Actions advance in Florida to increase milk delivery to the dairy industry

Florida, Camagüey, Oct 4th - In the current conditions, the milk deficit in the Dairy Industry is not resolved in office meetings or conference rooms: it is discussed at the grassroots level, talking to the dairy farmers, speaking without fear, discussing the causes of the non-compliance, listening to and defending criteria, building bridges and seeking solutions that benefit the State and the producer.

This was demonstrated by the multi-factor commission that arrived this week at several farms of the Rolando Valdivia Fernández Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS, for its acronym in Spanish) in the municipality of Florida, where a significant number of farmers stopped delivering the volumes agreed upon in the daily collection of that food for subjective reasons.

After a strong debate farm by farm, the representation of the Government, accompanied by the peasant organization, the Agricultural Company, and the Delegation of Agriculture, reached agreements and proposed alternatives that were accepted by the livestock farmers of the entity to recover the sale of milk to the industry and reorganize the delivery of cheese by others further away from the collection routes of that food.

It is striking and contradictory that after the grand inauguration of a cooling tank installed in Colonia Habana, the site was closed due to local milk producers refusing to deliver the contracted share of their milk to the Dairy Complex, an entity too passive in the battle to straighten out milk fate in Florida.

Among other issues analyzed by the commission that arrived at the premises of the CCS Rolando Valdivia to oversee, on the ground, its negative impact on the fulfillment of the plan to deliver milk to the industry in Florida, the poor condition of the dairy roads, the Dairy's debts with the dairy farmers, the legal measures to be applied if the reported attitudes are reiterated, and the role of the Administrative Board in the mission of promoting, demanding, and controlling there the obligations of the farmers with their state assignment, stand out.
