Santa Cruz del Sur advances with local plan to exceed sugarcane planting goal

Santa Cruz del Sur, Camagüey, Oct. 9 – Sugarcane planting is a priority for the Cándido González Morales Sugarcane Company, therefore achieving the fulfillment in the planting of the 148 hectares provided for in the cold season, involves producers and managers from the only entity of its kind in the country.

To date, 48.58 is the actual amount achieved in this stage, which began in July and extends until December. With numbers far removed from those achieved by this collective in previous times, but that tempered to the current moments, its fulfillment united to Santa Cruz del Sur advances with local plan to overcome goal of sowing planted cane in the spring campaign, guarantees the existence of seed for the year 2026.

The Seguidores del Che (Followers of Che), 21 de Octubre (October 21), and Los Pinos UBPCs, the Julio A. Mella CPA, the San Antonio State Lot, and the Registered Seed Bank are the groups involved in this cold season campaign, which, if completed, would make it possible to reach 278 hectares planted in the territory.

Several initiatives are being implemented by this group, where brigades were formed with workers from the Regulation and Control area, together with those from the UEB for the Provision of Services to work towards achieving the proposed objective. However, a group of limitations such as the scarce rainfall in the Haiti area and the lack of seeds in the first stage of the campaign have caused the delay that is evident today and whose reality continues to try to reverse before the end of 2025.
