Moscow, 10 Oct.- The United States, together with NATO, is exerting more and more pressure to achieve peace in Ukraine, as US President Donald Trump said on Thursday.
Asked if he would increase pressure to reach an agreement to end the Ukrainian conflict, the president responded at a joint press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb: "We are increasing the pressure. All together we are increasing the pressure. NATO has been excellent."
He praised the efforts of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, describing him as "fantastic."
"We are selling a lot of weapons to NATO, which I think is mostly going to Ukraine, that's its business. But they are buying weapons from the United States, and we make the best weapons in the world," Trump said.
"I think we'll achieve that, too," he said, after stating that he had ended seven wars and that this could be the eighth resolution.
Last month, the US president changed his rhetoric regarding Moscow. The president, who had previously stated that Ukraine would have to accept the loss of territory to end the conflict, surprised everyone by declaring that kyiv is ready to take control of the new Russian territories.
Trump then did not rule out the possibility of Washington supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. On Monday, he stated that he had already made a decision on the matter, but admitted that before taking a definitive step, he would like to know what the Ukrainians would do with them and where they would send them. "I guess I have to ask that question," he added.
Russia has repeatedly warned that there is no weapon that could turn the tide of the conflict. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that supplying Tomahawk missiles to kyiv would destroy the positive trends in relations between Moscow and Washington, as their use is impossible without the direct participation of US military personnel.
