Continental Meeting in Mexico Seeks to Strengthen Solidarity with Cuba


Mexico City, October 12 – Delegates at the 9th Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba will discuss today in working groups topics such as strengthening the movement in defense of the island and the fight against the United States blockade.

According to the meeting’s program, which began last Thursday and will conclude tomorrow at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex in this capital, another issue to be addressed will be the demand to remove the island from Washington’s unilateral list of countries supposedly sponsoring terrorism.

They will also debate reinforcing economic solidarity, as well as Latin American and Caribbean coordination and integration, along with the challenges posed by disinformation campaigns and the media war against the largest of the Antilles.

The continental meeting gathers hundreds of delegates from 25 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as Spain, Lebanon, and the United States, with the goal of drawing strategies to boost solidarity with the Caribbean nation.

The day before, Johana Tablada, Deputy Director General of the United States Directorate in Cuba’s Foreign Ministry, spoke about the impact of the U.S. siege, and other conferences took place concerning youth as guarantors of the Revolution and the challenge of the media war.

Also, five-time Olympic champion Mijaín López exchanged with delegates, answering questions about his childhood and training. (Text and photo: PL)
