Cuba thanks for shows of support after victory against the blockade

Havana, October 30. - Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs, thanked today for the displays of affection and support following the recent victory in the United Nations General Assembly (AGNU) against the United States blockade.

In his official X account, the Cuban Chancellor emphasized that he has received messages through various channels from presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, and other high representatives, friends of solidarity, and compatriots abroad.

This Wednesday, for the 33rd consecutive occasion, the vast majority of the international community supported Cuba's demand for an end to the blockade, which has extended for more than six decades.

Despite pressures and intimidations from the United States, 165 countries rejected Washington's unilateral policy, which Cuban authorities say constitutes the fundamental obstacle to the country's economic growth, development, and the well-being of the population.

A total of 12 nations abstained this time, and those voting against the resolution were Argentina, the United States, Hungary, Israel, Paraguay, Ukraine, and North Macedonia.

According to the most recent report on the blockade's impact, it caused Cuba approximately 7,556.1 million dollars in material damages and losses, just from March 1, 2024, to February 28 of this year.

In his address at the forum, the Cuban Chancellor stated that the impact of this type of aggression is not only economic: it is applied by design, with cold premeditation regarding its social and humanitarian effects on millions of people. (Source: ACN)
