Nuevitas, Camagüey, October 30 - When Hurricane Melissa approached the coast of Nuevitas, dark clouds swirled and the wind began to howl, but in the midst of the storm, the true essence of the people emerged. The solidarity of the locals, forged in years of coexistence and challenges, became a beacon of hope.
From the first alerts, families came together, not only to secure their homes but also to offer help to their neighbors. Doors were opened, and the most vulnerable found refuge in warm homes, where the community soul shone brighter than any tempest. The elderly, children, and those without resources became everyone's priority.
Volunteer groups organized quickly, many schools were transformed into evacuation centers, and the hard-working hands didn't stop until every corner of the town was prepared to face what was to come. Solidarity was palpable in every gesture, in every smile that defied fear.

When the rains and winds finally lashed the northern coast of Camagüey, stories of courage began to emerge, giving rise to new anecdotes that will be remembered by future generations. Without a doubt, adversity united the people of Nuevitas once again in a struggle for survival and the well-being of all.
After Melissa passed, the landscape changed, but the essence remained intact.
Thus, Nuevitas stood up in total normality, without affecting housing and damage to state entities, reaffirming that the true strength lies in the union, that which enabled the transfer of the evacuees to their homes; and it is that in every comment of hope, in each shared embrace, A story of resilience was woven that will last through time, reminding everyone that, in the face of trial, solidarity is the safest refuge.
