Camagüey, November 6 - Despite the numerous difficulties they face, the electricians of the Ignacio Agramonte Contingent from Camagüey are unwavering in their efforts to restore electrical service in the municipality of Contramaestre, which was recently hit by Hurricane Melissa.

Each day, their work begins before dawn. At 5:45 in the morning, the team boards a bus in Bayamo, the town where they are lodged, to travel the 30 kilometers that separate them from their work zone in Contramaestre.

Bernardo Nieves Sánchez, head of the contingent, explained in a telephone conversation that upon arrival, they found extensive damage to the electrical networks and that, currently, one of the biggest challenges is the insufficiency of material resources.

Faced with this reality, the electricians have had to improvise with practical solutions, such as recovering and reusing crossarms, screws, fittings, and insulators to be able to continue the work.

While they advance in the rehabilitation work in various areas of Contramaestre, often on difficult terrain overgrown with weeds, a brigade from the same contingent was deployed to the Third Eastern Front, on the slopes of the Sierra Maestra, to accelerate the energy recovery in that area.
