Camagüey, November 7 - A group of 24 workers from the "Mario Muñoz Monroy" contingent of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA, for its acronym in Spanish) in Camagüey are deployed in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Granma to support recovery efforts following Hurricane Melissa.
The first brigade, composed of six linemen, two tower operators, and a specialist, departed on October 31 for the affected areas. To date, the contingent has four work teams deployed in eastern Cuba.

The team is made up of linemen, tower workers, splicers, and other specialists, some with years of experience and others who are younger. Together, they represent a symbol of unity, solidarity, and hope for the inhabitants of the damaged areas, who will undoubtedly appreciate this gesture of altruism.
Through WhatsApp conversations, some of these workers reported that the tasks are carried out under very complex conditions, in mountainous areas and muddy terrain. Their work includes raising fallen poles, stringing cables, and performing reconstructions.

The workday begins in the early hours of the morning and has very little time for rest. Progress is hampered by fallen trees and impassable roads, which slows down the work.
Despite facing resource limitations and numerous difficulties, the "Mario Muñoz Monroy" contingent from Camagüey continues its mission with the determination to restore telecommunications services as soon as possible. (Text and photos: Gladys Daylin Morera Cordero/Radio Cadena Agramonte)
