Camagüey, José Antonio Chávez, dance, art, choreographic life, stage

The heartthrob of dance, in the memory

Camagüey, November 24 - José Antonio Chávez dedicated his life exclusively to dance. His art consisted of caressing the body's movements and giving them a unique choreographic life on stage.

However, fate dealt him a cruel blow, and he left this world just when, with his dazzling modesty, he believed he still had much to offer on the stage.

His absence will leave a void that will affect not only the dancers who admired him, but also other artists in the cultural sphere who had the privilege of knowing him. His influence extends beyond them, reaching a people who saw him walk our streets with the nobility that characterizes the greats of culture.

The sad news of his passing has flooded the media and social networks, where many admirers, in the privacy of silence, mourn his departure and celebrate his legacy.

Etymologically, the term ' heartthrob ' refers to a gentleman of good countenance, elegant and graceful.

Just seven days after turning 80 and receiving the 2023 National Dance Award, José Antonio Chávez will always be remembered as the true heartthrob of dance; his short stature only made his greatness shine even brighter.
