Computer Scientists in Camagüey: a positive year-end

Camagüey, November 26 - The Union of Computer Scientists of Cuba (UIC, for its acronym in Spanish) in the province carried out activities that facilitated training for internal projects, aimed at sectors with low levels of digital literacy, as part of the institution's achievements and challenges this year, according to statements made to Adelante Digital by its president, Reynaldo Alonso Reyes.

"Among the actions implemented is the work aimed at continuous improvement and enhancing the competitive skills of its members, with participation in local, national, and international events, such as the International Congress on Digital Transformation," said the specialist. He added that the institution also participated, virtually, in the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Governance Forum.

He noted that the UIC leads a local development project called Co-lab (Citizen Digital Innovation Laboratory), which will celebrate its third anniversary on November 28th. Its mission is to boost digital innovation in the region and drive its transformation within the business sector and public administration. It is considered a productive articulation initiative by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

With just over three hundred members across nine provincial and municipal branches, the UIC faces goals regarding growth and the incorporation of trained personnel for work, compared to previous years, especially in municipalities that lack these services.

In commemoration of the 99th anniversary of the birth of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, "the Union" held a provincial day dedicated to the transformation of science and the use of artificial intelligence. It will celebrate its tenth anniversary on the 12th, reaffirming the commitment made at its last National Conference to contribute its work to the social project and economic model promoted by the Cuban Revolution.
