In Camagüey, Construction Worker's Day pays tribute to transformative work

Camagüey, December 5 - Camagüey commemorates Construction Worker's Day, a date that honors the dedication and commitment of those who have been essential to the development of the province and the country. This celebration, established in 1972 by Fidel Castro in honor of Armando Mestre Martínez, highlights the importance of this sector as an engine of social and economic progress in Cuba.

During the day, the work of plumbers, hydraulic workers, bricklayers, retirees, and those working in the non-state sector was highlighted. Their efforts have been fundamental in the execution of major investments in the province, transforming communities and improving the quality of life of their inhabitants.

The role of young people in the sector is another aspect that has been emphasized. Their active and conscious participation contributes to the updating of the Cuban economic model, ensuring the continuity of the tradition of work and effort that characterizes the profession. Their drive is key to maintaining the pace of ongoing works and projects.

In this context, it is worth mentioning the General Works Contracting Company, which has carried out important infrastructure projects in housing, urbanization, and sectors such as health and education, in addition to providing surveying services. For their part, Construction and Assembly Companies No. 1 and No. 2 have undertaken architectural projects in different regions of the country.

Over the years, these entities have carried out a wide range of construction projects, from housing and thermoelectric plants to factories and airports. Their achievements demonstrate not only their versatility but also their important contribution to industrial and social development.

The celebration of Construction Worker's Day in Camagüey, therefore, is also a tribute to the history of sacrifice and perseverance that characterizes this noble profession, reaffirming its commitment to a sustainable and prosperous future for the nation.
