Sibanicú, Camagüey, December 8 - Workers at the Siboney Agro-Industrial Sugar Company, located in the municipality of Sibanicú, are about to finalize preparations for the upcoming sugar harvest. This team successfully completed the previous molasses production campaign.

Alexander Pérez Mejías, director of the industry, highlighted the significant effort deployed during the last harvest that began on August 13 and resulted in the production of more than 800 tons of molasses. These revenues allowed the company to pay off debts and capitalize the company, in addition to generating savings of 29 million pesos in electricity and recovering the workforce.

Just hours before the start of the next harvest, the company has an estimated production plan of 4,076 metric tons of sugar, which requires approximately 57,000 tons of sugarcane. The director mentioned that they are finalizing details in various areas of the mill, such as the installation of blades on the tipper, the completion of mechanical work on the mills, and the completion of tasks in the boiler house, thus preparing the mill for startup.

In terms of mechanization and rail transport, the imminent arrival of lubricants and oils is expected, which will allow them to complete the fleet of equipment, which includes 90 railcars and three locomotives.

The next harvest at the Siboney mill will also be supported by some 33,000 tons of sugarcane from the Las Quinientas production area in the municipality of Vertientes. Alexander Pérez Mejías emphasized that, after reaching this production, they plan to work on obtaining 1,500 tons of molasses.

The commitment and willingness to complete the preparation within the established deadlines characterize the collective of workers of the Siboney Sugar Mill, which plans to begin operations on December 15, together with the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Sugar Mill, in the municipality of the same name.
