Camagüey, Dec 15.- The second edition of the master's degree in Comprehensive Care for the Oncological Patient, the only one of its kind in the country, saw the graduation of its 32 participants from the Heritage Interpretation Centre of this city. They will now put into practice the knowledge gained to treat cancer and support patients undergoing this disease.

"You came to this program with solid knowledge in nursing, medicine, psychology, nutrition, pharmacy… and today you leave with something greater: a holistic vision, a humanized commitment, and specialized expertise in one of the most demanding and significant fields of health," said the lead professor and researcher of the course, Dr.C. Zaily Fuentes Díaz.

In conversations with Adelante Digital, the specialist in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation added that "during the training, the students have had to confront complex topics: grief, communicating bad news, ethics in decision-making, fragility. It has not been a light learning experience," and she assured that the depth in these topics makes them indispensable and extraordinary professionals.

According to the course coordinator, specialist in Plastic Surgery and Burn Doctor of Sciences Orlando Bismark Rodríguez Salazar, "we are in the accreditation phase for the two concluded editions and the one currently underway, with positive results. Cancer is an ailment that affects the global population, Cuba, and our territory." He pointed out that thanks to the union between our Oncological Hospital and the University of Medical Sciences, this program was structured, seeking excellence in services, not only from a biological standpoint but also psychological and social ones.

Regarding the impact of the master's degree, member of the academic committee Dr.C. Maurice José González Basulto commented that "it is reflected in the creation of multidisciplinary teams capable of providing hope and quality of life at every stage of treatment. By integrating science, ethics, and humanity, the master's program becomes a bridge between knowledge and compassion." He stated that this represents an educational response to one of the greatest challenges of our time and stands as a symbol of hope and commitment to life.

One of the graduates, Dr. Migdolis Savigne Daudinot, a specialist in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation at the Provincial Pediatric Hospital Eduardo Agramonte Piña, expressed: "Undoubtedly, I strengthened my professional and intellectual preparation, which I will apply in my work where we are anonymous heroes, providing comprehensive care to our patients, caring for them in a state of unconsciousness, and seeing their happy faces upon recovery is our greatest gift."

During the event, recognitions were also awarded to doctors Maurice José Basulto, Orlando Bismark Rodríguez, Zaily Fuentes, and José Eduardo Vera Rodríguez for their career in the field of Oncology, academic excellence, and training of health professionals.
