Camagüey, December 18. - Milk producers in the state and peasant sectors of Camagüey concluded the month of November with a total of 32 million 424 thousand liters delivered to the industry since the beginning of the year to date. However, this volume represents a deficit of approximately one million 251 thousand liters compared to the plan agreed upon during the 2024 contracting phase.
This province, once the country’s largest milk producer, faces the urgent need to transform its productive landscape. It is essential for all involved actors to come together, identifying individual producers who fail to meet their deliveries, whether by not contributing a single liter of milk or a pound of cheese.
For the country to advance and consolidate its economy, it is crucial for credit and service cooperatives, as well as other forms of production, to demand compliance with the commitments made.
In terms of municipal results, Jimaguayú, Camagüey, Najasa, and Florida stand out with better indicators, although they still fall short of expectations. On the other hand, the municipalities of Minas, Santa Cruz del Sur, and Guáimaro present lower figures, with Minas and Santa Cruz del Sur barely reaching 44 percent and Guáimaro not exceeding 53 percent.
It is important to mention that the Transform project, led by the Ignacio Agramonte University of Camagüey, is conducting comprehensive research aimed at revolutionizing the current productive regime of the dairy sector and seeking alternatives to replace imports.
