Camagüey, Jan. 1st.- Today, January 1st, 2026, marks the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. This historical event not only signified the end of a dictatorship but also opened the doors to the construction of a sovereign nation committed to social justice, universal education, and human dignity.
This year, declared as the Year of the Centenary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, that foundational feat transcends simple memory to become an active pillar, a permanent stimulus for progress, and a moral compass that guides the collective effort of our people.
The legacy of the Revolution is reflected in social achievements that have remained non-negotiable, despite the persistent economic blockade imposed by the United States. Notable among these achievements are an internationally recognized biotechnology industry, the work of internationalist medical brigades that bring healthcare to dozens of countries, and a sporting tradition that makes the nation proud. These are some of the visible pillars of a project that indissolubly links economic development with social benefit.
Facing current challenges, the entrepreneurial spirit of Cubans emerges with force as an essential engine for the updating of the economic model. Innovation, creativity, and collective effort are key to addressing the transformations the country requires.
Likewise, it is important to highlight that Cuba does not only provide aid but actively fosters South-South cooperation based on solidarity. The nation establishes alliances and defends the need for a more just and equitable world order in international forums. This practical internationalism is part of its identity and constitutes a significant contribution to the international community.
The centenary of Fidel Castro that we begin today must serve as a call to continue fighting and to be more united than ever. As President Miguel Díaz-Canel has pointed out, this is the moment to “keep fighting and be more united than ever.” The best tribute to our historic leader is to face today's challenges with his same audacity and with a firm commitment to keeping his principles alive.
Strengthening national unity, supporting innovative entrepreneurship, and continuously perfecting our socialism are the paths to honor the work begun in 1959—a work of irrevocable dignity that demands and deserves the constant effort of an entire nation.
