
Camagüey, Jan. 8. - The injured from the traffic accident that occurred at kilometer 595 of the Central Highway, at the known Ignacio curve in the municipality of Jimaguayú, received rapid attention. The accident happened on Wednesday night when a Yutong bus traveling from Banes, Holguín, overturned. The bus was carrying workers from the Mariel Development Zone.
There were 45 people on the bus. As a result of the tragic event, two individuals lost their lives, including a 7-year-old child.

More than 30 patients are being treated at four healthcare centers in the province of Camagüey, where protocols were activated and medical transportation with the necessary resources was arranged for the care of the injured, stated Carlos Morán Giraldo, provincial director of Public Health.
The first care for the injured was provided at the polyclinic in the municipality of Sibanicú; the Military Hospital and Amalia Simoni Hospital also received patients, while the largest number are being treated at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Hospital.

The highest authorities of the province visited the scene of the incident and the healthcare facilities, concerned about the care provided to the injured.
Rodolfo Domínguez Rosa, director of the Manuel Ascunce Domenech University Hospital, specified that 31 injured were received, one in critical condition and three reported as serious; three underwent surgery for orthopedic injuries, one was amputated due to the severity of the wounds, and all were evaluated according to clinical criteria; the others are under observation and care for the next 24 hours.
