Venezuelan Baseball5 Cup reaches Super Round


 

Havana, Jan. 8.- The IV Venezuelan Baseball5 Cup will hold its Super Round stage today, where the six best qualified teams from the elimination stage will showcase their hitting and defense.

 

The tournament is taking place in the municipality of Venezuela in Ciego de Ávila province, with the participation of 11 teams divided into two groups.

To determine the fortunate six, we must await the results of Thursday's morning session, in a tournament that sees the national champions, Guerreros de Guantánamo, as the only undefeated team (3-0).

The Guantánamo team, led by head coach Carlos Preval and anchored by two-time world champion Chaquira Azpiazú, has left no doubt about its true worth.

It won all three matches on the second competitive day: 4-2 against Tigres, pitched a 6-0 shutout against Cazadores, and in the night session prevailed 8-7 over Metros.

In other results from Wednesday, Metros defeated Avispas 2-1, Faranduleros defeated Invasores 10-2, Halcones defeated Ciego de Ávila 11-3, Galácticos defeated Astros 6-3, Ciego de Ávila defeated Invasores 5-4, and Faranduleros defeated Astros 6-2.

Additionally, Galácticos defeated Halcones 7-4, Metros defeated Tigres 12-2, Cazadores defeated Avispas 12-5, Faranduleros defeated Ciego de Ávila 12-2, Invasores defeated Galácticos 8-7, and Halcones defeated Astros 8-6.

This second day saw the tournament's first triple play, executed by the Faranduleros, now recorded as a historic gem.

Seventeen play reviews (replay) were conducted, with four decisions overturned, showing a 76.5 percent accuracy rate by the officials.
