Call for entries for the Isla Verde Cuban Film Festival closes in February

Havana, January 9 - The deadline for submitting audiovisual works to the 4th Isla Verde Caribbean International Film and Environment Festival is February 6, according to the event's website, as announced today.

Founded in 2022 by actor, director, and 2024 National Film Award winner Jorge Perugorría, the festival will be held from April 5 to 11 of this year on the Isla de la Juventud, south of the western part of the Cuban archipelago.

Isla Verde welcomes feature films and short films that promote the conservation and protection of the environment, while also documenting the active relationship between humans and nature.

The main objectives of the event are to raise awareness, promote, and foster the development of sustainable solutions through film, the call for entries emphasizes.

The Festival seeks to contribute, through cinema, a critical perspective on the environmental challenges facing the Caribbean today, establishing itself as a creative and vital space for promoting collective action on environmental issues.

In addition to its competitive sections, the program will include conferences, workshops, concerts, training sessions, exhibitions, thematic series, and numerous cultural and community activities.

The Festival is organized by the Isla Verde Local Development Project, Four Wives, the Antonio Núñez Jiménez Foundation for Nature and Humanity, and gallery-workshop

Gorría.

According to the organizers, in 2026 the event will once again transform the Isla de la Juventud into an epicenter for projects, conferences, and exchanges related to sustainability, the circular economy, ecotourism, and the conservation of natural resources.(Source: Prensa Latina)
