
Havana, Dec 8.- The III Latin American and Caribbean Animation Forum Juan Padrón in memoriam will be inaugurated today in this capital, with the aim of generating learning, dialogue, and cooperation with specialists from the audiovisual industry in the region.
The Animation Studios of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC, for its acronym in Spanish) will host the event, whose first day reserved the "Linterna Violeta" project, a dialogue with Cuban director Ivette Ávila about the series of animated spots and documentaries, using mixed techniques, that analyze the main manifestations of violence in society.
Later, a master class by British cinematographer Frank Passingham will take place, who will conduct a workshop on cinematography for Stop Motion.
The Forum's program, which will run until December 11, also invites participation in the collateral activity Animassinha, a clay animation workshop with Brazilian animator Daniel Rabanea, aimed at 25 children aged 10 and over.
The meeting will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays in the afternoon, at La Manigua.
Dedicated to the prominent Cuban filmmaker, cartoonist, and comic artist Juan Padrón (1947–2020), the event is part of the program of the 46th Havana International Festival of New Latin American Film.
Until December 14th and with the slogan "Rolling film", the great celebration of the seventh art in the region promises to captivate with diverse initiatives and the screening of 222 films, 114 of them in competition for the Coral awards and the rest in other sections.
