Camagüey, Jan. 10th.- Filling vacant positions, establishing closer links with workers, and being more efficient in their work are among the objectives pursued this year by the Secretariat of the Provincial Committee of the Union of Cuban Workers (CTC,for its acronym in Spanish), as emerged during the first work meeting of the current calendar year.
The training and education of executives and the completion of executive reserves are among the main tasks, according to Ana Iris Hidalgo Conde, a member of the secretariat, since without the necessary representatives "functions cannot be fulfilled nor the interests of workers protected."
However, as specified by Yamisleidys López Fernández, general secretary of the Provincial Committee, although they "have already managed to recruit new students and some positions have been filled, we must continue interviewing workers and looking for reserves."
Regarding the process they lead each year for the discussion and presentation of the plan and the budget, Richard Ramírez Arias, a member of the secretariat, explained that for this year, the intention is for meetings to be grounded in reality, focusing on available resources.
Additionally, he noted, most of the meetings will begin in February so that the delay in the breakdown of plans does not affect the process, as has happened on other occasions.
And as López Fernández specified, "it is necessary to achieve the most realistic plan possible; therefore, the process must have quality and not limit its analysis to these dates, but also evaluate compliance throughout the year."
The meeting also covered topics such as crime and illegalities, the workers' guard, union dues, potential, and activities scheduled for the centenary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. (Source: Trabajadores)
