Havana, Fidel Castro Center, Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief

Nearly 280,000 people have visited the Fidel Castro Center

Havana, January 13 - Nearly 280,000 people from more than 176 countries have visited the Fidel Castro Center since its inauguration in this capital just four years ago.

The number of foreign visitors during that period is 42,289, reported the institution's management, the only one in the country that bears the name of the supreme leader of the Cuban Revolution.

"High-level delegations that visit us mostly prioritize the Center in their agendas, which gives an idea of its symbolic significance. They have even expressed that we are a mandatory place of pilgrimage," stated a summary of the institution's management results, to which the Cuban News Agency had access.

Furthermore, "we contribute to preserving the historical memory of the Commander in Chief and the Revolution through multiple donations of documents and collections in their most varied formats, which enrich our internal historical heritage, including funds from distinguished historians and deceased personalities."

It was considered that this fact "constitutes an opportunity to influence our realities, which is why disseminating the thought, life, and work of Fidel on social networks and other media is among our priorities."

In particular, it added, "due to its impact on friends who come to Havana, especially Americans, who here encounter a different perspective of the Cuban Revolution, as well as the work with counterpart institutions in countries such as Venezuela, Angola, Russia, and Mexico."

He emphasized that "the production of books related to the Commander in Chief and the Revolution has been at the core of its publishing house, Ediciones Alejandro, with nearly twenty titles, and the mambisa tradition of producing souvenirs with historical character has also been revived."

It announced that "in terms of research, they have identified the fundamental lines and milestones of his life and work, on which they are working, although the main result to date is the completion of his Selected Works in 23 volumes, 'which we will make available to our people and the world on the occasion of his centenary.'"

"Our work," it pointed out, "is not limited only to the physical space we occupy, but we permanently promote cultural outreach activities with schools, workplaces, institutions of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, penitentiary centers, hospitals, and others."

Its inauguration took place on November 21, 2021, in compliance with a mandate from the National Assembly of People's Power, with the presence of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros. (Source: ACN)
